Week 4: Choose Your Camp Adventure (Camper Prompt)

The tents are zipped, the fire’s crackling, and we’ve reached the final week of Summer Camp!

a group of girl scouts are clapping in front of a tree and their uniforms say girl scouts on them

As you choose your own adventure this week, whether it’s learning something new, joining a chat, or shaping what’s next, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what you’re ready to leave behind…and where you want to go next.

With Iterable Nova launching this fall and a new era of moments-based marketing on the horizon, let’s talk transformation. Time for the final camper prompt!

Week 4: Choose Your Camp Adventure camp card

Whether you’re just getting started or already scaling sophisticated programs, moving beyond traditional marketing means creating more intentional, personalized, and timely experiences. It’s about speaking with your audience, not just at them.

Week 4 Camper Prompt (Earn 1 Entry):
What’s one traditional marketing habit you’re ready to ditch, and how will you evolve your strategy to meet your audience in the moment?

Here are a few example of shifts we’re seeing across the marketing world:

  • Monthly newsletters → personalized content digests
Instead of sending the same newsletter to everyone (i.e. batch and blast), marketers are curating dynamic content based on each user’s interests, behaviors, or journey stage.

  • Holiday blasts → Intentional seasonal moments
Instead of launching one-size-fits-all holiday campaigns. Create seasonal experiences based on purchase behavior, gifting intent, or channel preferences across email, SMS, and in-app. Intent, gift lists, browsing.

  • Siloed campaigns → connected cross-channel journeys
Say goodbye to disjointed experiences. Brands are building seamless paths that span email, SMS, in-app, push, and more, meeting users where they are.

  • Static nurture tracks → real-time, responsive journeys
Rather than pre-set drip campaigns, modern journeys adapt in the moment based on customer actions, signals, and context.

  • Manual segments → predictive, auto-updating audiences
No more manually building lists. AI-driven insights help create audiences that evolve automatically based on predictive behaviors.

  • A/B tests → Full-journey experimentation
Instead of limiting testing to subject lines or send times, marketers are expanding experimentation across entire journeys, testing sequences, branching logic, and personalized experiences to uncover what truly drives impact.

  • Traditional metrics → Strategic impact signals
Instead of focusing solely on opens and clicks, teams are measuring deeper engagement, like content consumption, event signups, feature adoption, or profile completion to understand how moments influence retention, revenue, and long-term value.

Holiday blasts → Intentional seasonal moments
Last year in addition to sending out our normal holiday newsletter we also gave users a chance to opt into a “12 days of holiday” newsletter. Each day we had a combo of curated and automated holiday content from our brands along with the ever-important commerce links. We used the catalog to build these out so each day we could do super quick updates to any links or out of stock products. We did something similar with SMS where we tried to get even more engagement out of our sends by asking users to reply M if they want a men gift guide, W for women, K for kids and P for pets! It was a fun way to make users feel very involved!

I'd ditch those automated email series that never change...aka those welcome emails that send the exact same 5 messages to everyone, no matter what they actually do on your site.

Instead, I'd push emails that actually pay attention to what people do. If someone keeps looking at your pricing page but doesn't buy, send them something that answers common questions. If they're reading help articles, send them tips to get better results.

Basically, make your emails feel like you're actually paying attention instead of just hitting "send" on the same thing over and over. It definitely takes more work, but people actually respond because it feels like you get them.

Did some camp really go by that fast? Time flies by while you’re having fun, I guess..!

Great to be involved in Summer Camp and shoutout to @Deja  for hosting. Learned a lot about impact and great to connect with others in yesterday’s Fireside Chat.

Siloed campaigns → connected cross-channel journeys is something we’re evolving to look forward to in the next generation of campaigns. As our team grows, we’re looking forward to working cross functionally instead of working as silos (email, push, SMS). Owning campaigns from start to finish and creating smarter journies that send as the customer interacts with comms, leans towards their unique preferences and doesn’t overwhelm them like a needy company. Making sure what they’re seeing is actually what they want to see creating anticipation with campaigns that align towards the costumers personalized preferences.
