Hello - can you tell me how many times you retry soft bounces before abandoning the send?

Thanks

Hi Phil,

If a message soft bounces, it is customary and typical in the industry to not attempt another delivery of *that single message* to that particular recipient address again. Soft bounces are by nature temporary, so later message deliveries to that same address will again be attempted.

If by chance you're also curious about message deferrals, where a message is attempting to be delivered to an address and is getting temporary throttling or pushback, the typical retry period for that is 72 hours before converting to a soft bounce event.

Great - thanks Seth.

For message deferrals, am I right in saying that after the initial send, there are no retries for 72 hours, or are there a number of attempts up to 72 hours?

Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

For message deferrals, after the initial send the attempts go on for 72 hours.
