Let's face it. Some users just won't use the unsubscribe email in the footer. As it also is best practice (and highly recommended as it opens great dialogue with users/customers) to have people reply to your emails, some reply with the request to get unsubscribed.

At Kahoot! those replies usually go to customer support and it has therefore been a bit of a drag to meet those requests: For one it is time-consuming to unsubscribe many people in a row individually (yes, we could have done bulk unsubscribing by creating a list to upload, but just wait for it - we found an even better way), second not all customer support agents will have access to iterable, and third - it is not ideal to involve too many teams/people in unsubscribing people.

At Kahoot! we use Slack for internal communication.

What works great for us and what I, therefore, would recommend for anyone using Slack for internal communication while having similar approach to email strategy as us, is to build a Slack plugin that allows your support team to unsubscribe users:

Eightball is a fork of this project: https://github.com/slackapi/python-rtmbot

We write new plugins for every command we want Eightball to do. Unsubscribing users from receiving marketing emails through iterable is just one of them.

We used the /api/lists/unsubscribe endpoint in iterable

It took our developer an hour to set up and three minutes to test.

I hope this would be interesting for at least some of you "out there"! 😃
