Hi all,

We are in the process of trying to serve users recommendations based on their city. However, we want to go one step further and show recommendations based on their postal code or longitude and latitude.

We are not able to store sensitive user data, city being the exception, on Iterable. So I am trying to see if there is a way to be able to connect sensitive data not on Iterable to data we do store on Iterable.

I am wondering if anyone else has come across this issue and has found a workaround or how other folks handle sensitive data?

Hi Vanessa,

Thank you for reaching out and I'd be happy to answer your question.

With Iterable we provide the ability to reference dynamic content with the use of handlebars to pull data that lives in a user profile, custom event(Journey triggered), or with the help of a data feed. Sadly, if data is not allowed to be stored on Iterable, I would offer possibly utilizing data feeds to store and reference within Iterable.

As Iterable sends campaigns, data feeds can make per-recipient requests to external web services. Parameters in these requests make it possible for the web services to return data that's directly relevant to specific users. Here is our Support document here on the topic:https://support.iterable.com/hc/en-us/articles/204795659-Personalizing-Templates-with-Data-Feeds-

I would also get in touch with your CSM to provide the best strategy for your use case.

Best,

Julia
