And that's (almost) a wrap for 2021! This year flew by and it was so much fun reading about the work that you're proud of.

Amy Rose Carle: I'd love to dig deeper with you into your personalization strategy, it sounds like your team has seen a lot of success over this year last in doing more personalization. That's always a hot topic and I'm sure other customers would love to hear more and learn from you.

Jennifer Salamh Welcome to the Iterable family! It's so great to see you so engaged here in the community. Don't be a stranger as you're getting ramped up, we're all here to help!

Kara Sheil It's so exciting to hear about the progress you've made with onboarding and personalization. Like with Amy, I'd love to hear more about how you're leveraging Iterable partners and other tools to drive your strategy. I'm thinking another user group on personalization is necessary going into 2022.

Ryan Glanzer and team: Those are some impressive numbers you shared and definitely something to be extremely proud of. I am really appreciative that you were so new to Iterable but yet so willing to share your learnings and workflow at our user group! That was the highest registration and attendance we've ever had at a user group before.

Looking Ahead at 2022

For our LAST day of the Holiday Festival, we'd love to hear what you're looking forward to or what your goals are for 2022. Let's share one professional and one personal goal!

Of course, i'll go first 😆

Personal goal: TRAVEL! I am ready to get out there, both professionally and personally. I really really miss going to user groups and other events in person, there's nothing like it! I am also ready to get out for fun too, road trips have been fun over the last couple of years, but I'd like to get out to Europe.

Professional goal: Despite working at Iterable, I am not an email marketer! I send a lot of emails to customers, if you've ever received our monthly newsletter (The Monthly Snippet), or invitations to user groups, our training events, etc., that's me! However, my email marketing skills are fairly basic and my goal for 2022 is to build my skillset as an email marketer.

Personal goal: Move to Spain for a year (I live in the UK). I'd love to experience what it's like to live in another country for a year (maybe more!) - definitely a bucket list item that I'd love to make happen some time in 2022!

Professional goal: I'd love to get more involved with the implementation of events and APIs in Iterable. This is a dark spot for me in terms of my knowledge, so being able to fully understand how they work, how to set them up, test them & implement them will hopefully take my email marketing to the next level :)

Personal goal: Spend more time with my family and creating more meaningful outside-of-work opportunities for myself! Also read more!

Professional goal: Continue to develop as a leader, beginning with enabling my team as well as other teams across the organization to be fully trained & confident in areas where I was previously an individual contributor. Increased focus on learning more & executing on Customer Retention initiatives.

Sarah - a lot of our customer retention planning is continuing to optimize our email strategy. The personalization we have done this year, as basic as including customer names in subject lines & addressing emails to as complex as customizing flows based on offers applied on accounts, products purchased in prior cycles, creating more dynamic content within emails to reduce the number of versions of the same email to go out, customizing subscription cancellation confirmation emails by reason for cancellation have all been really effective. We have a lot of new custom events & contact properties being worked on by our engineers currently that should allow us to expand personalization opportunities!

Personal goal: I turn 40 in 2022 and I decided I'm going to use this as justification to do lots more fun things. Going to start a tradition of doing a father-son weekend trip to see a new MLB stadium each year with my baseball-crazed 7yo. Also have plans to do some major home renovations... this old place is falling apart!

Professional goal: We're pretty strapped on our email team at a growing company. I aim to scale our team and add several new team members in Q1, primarily a technically inclined person to go with our team of marketers, and an entry-level person. I need to improve my managerial skills. I am still the kind of person who wants to do everything myself, but I need to learn to teach and delegate and trust team members more. This will be imperative as the business grows.

Person Goal: I'd like to run a half marathon this year. It has been a couple of years since I have done a full, half or anything more than a 5K really....

Professional: Being new to our team, I'm still learning. I'd really like to have a good handle on how data is flowing across our different networks and talk about our systems, data flows, and storage confidently :)

Personal Goal: Keep working for a better life balance. We took a vacation this fall, took our bikes with us and spent the time riding and hiking. I'm starting to make a list of places that would have good dropping off points. The Rails to Trails Conservancy group online is an amazing resource for finding what parts of the country have good trail systems.

Professional: Finish up the remaining courses I need to retain my PMP certification for this cycle. Keep pushing where I can for personalization in our emails, which involves stretching our development team for what possibilities we may have. I love when we can find a technology solution that helps eliminate repetitive, time-consuming human tasks.
