I’m considering the creation of a custom preference center for our users to control which subscriptions they want and do not want to keep receiving. I’m curious to hear if anyone that has already gone through the process has any tips, tricks, ideas, learnings and or recommendations on how to approach this.

Hi Gregoire,

Here’s our support documentation on setting up a custom preference center: https://support.iterable.com/hc/en-us/articles/208463956-Creating-a-Subscription-Preference-Center
For suggestions more specific to your use case and needs, I’d recommend reaching out to your customer success manager (CSM), or if you have specific questions on certain aspects of the functionality available, feel free to reach out to our support team at support@iterable.com

Hi Greg!

I handle Iterable at Iterable, and we’ve had our current custom preference center live for about 2 years or so. It’s largely held up pretty well, though I’m considering adding one other category for some emails that had previously sent from another system/didn’t exist before. I think my biggest suggestion would be to do some light user testing on however you’ve grouped your emails, to make sure your users (or your mom, spouse, random coworker or whoever is free to test this on) see those emails the way you do.

Also, start making the list now of all your various lead acquisition points so you can make sure to update those when the time comes, and test that people are getting the right preferences coming into Iterable.

Hi Greg,

Let’s chat about this in our next sync. We have seen clients reduce complete churn (unsubscribe) by as much as 30% by adding a preference centre that gives their customers choice. I’d be happy to share some options and best practices with you in our next sync.

Would be great if this was on Iterables road map to develop this in house then would not require engineering resources to get these set up, and easier to add additional options as and when the business needs for new products and features etc.

Great idea Adrian. Let me add this as a feature request for you. I am one of the CSMs here at Iterable and can pass this feedback onto our product team for you.
