When creating a journey, is there a reason why the data from the triggering custom event is available to select in the Attribute split tile?

It behaves identically to the yes/no split tile but instead allows for multiple paths, instead of just two.

I’m going to have to use 10 yes/no split tiles instead of 1 attribute title in the journey that i am currently making.

Please can you add the functionality to your roadmap if it isn’t already on there? I feel like the majority of the time that I would want to use an attribute split tile, I would want to customise it with the triggering event data.

Thanks

Hi Mark! Thanks so much for reaching out 🙂

Currently, this is expected behavior. The attribute split tile only references user fields directly. However, you can work around this by either creating yes/no split tiles to filter users or by adding the custom event data you want to reference as a field on the user’s profile. To do this, use the “user profile” tile within the journey to reference custom event data and save it to the user’s profile. Then, you can use the attribute split tile to filter based on this new user field. If you choose this approach, I recommend adding a 1-minute delay tile after updating the user profile and before the attribute split tile. This allows time for the field to save, preventing any race conditions.

The following support document provides insight into the user profile tile -- https://support.iterable.com/hc/en-us/articles/17743524980756-Journey-Setup-User-Update-Tiles#user-profile-tiles

We understand that this is a limitation, and we’ve looped in your CSM to submit it as a feature request on your behalf. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Best,
Alejandra

Thanks Alejandra

Thats a good solution that I hadn’t considered! Will keep it in mind in future👍

Although I do think being able to pull in the triggering event data to the attribute split tile would be a worthwhile addition to the platform in future.

Thanks again
Mark
