Hi, everyone.
We're new to Iterable and excited to get going. We've used Localytics, Braze and One Signal before so we have some experience with these types of platforms.
If you were starting over with Iterable today, what's one thing (or a few things) you'd do differently? Or what did you do well that you think newbies like us should emulate?
Thanks everyone!

Hi Gene Gurkoff
Welcome to the community! I'm the community manager here and I just wanted to pop in and say how much I love this question and I'm sure some community members will have a lot of advice to share, but I wanted to share some that I've heard from customers that I've chatted with:
- "Definitely take advantage of the free training courses available through Iterable. Also, check out the Iterable channel in the Email Geeks Slack. I get so many great ideas from scrolling through messages and threads!" - Sara Yamamoto, Policygenius - here's her profile.
- "Don’t overlook the catalog and collections features. We have an incredible amount of data stored in about a dozen different catalogs that really make our jobs easier. I have a catalog dedicated solely to pulling in product or brand reviews dynamically. I have a collection that can drop the top 3 brands in a given category into an email depending on the consumer’s interests and activity. It’s very powerful and pretty easy to implement. I feel like most other Iterable users I’ve met don’t take advantage of this feature to the fullest, if at all." Ryan Glanzer, Consumer Affairs - here's his profile.
- "To a new user: utilize the Iterable support team. To a new org migrating onto Iterable: if you don’t have Iterable support, get it. The UI is incredibly user-friendly and easy to figure out, but the support will help you and your marketers take things to the next level." - Michelle Wood, Madison Reed
- "It is hard to narrow down to just one piece of advice. Read the documentation, take the courses, understand the power of the platform so that you can get the most out of the personalization options that are possible with Iterable. If you are using a tool that doesn’t have a direct integration with Iterable, bring it up to the team. We mentioned a loyalty platform we are bringing on, and the Iterable team worked with them to make the connection much easier and documented the process." - Kara Sheil, Speedway Motors - here's her profile.
- "Someone gave me this advice before I started, and want to pass along the reminder: once you create an attribute, you cannot edit or delete it. Take advantage of the sandbox before uploading to your main project!" - Anna Bayacal, Cinemark - here's her profile.
Additionally, I would highly recommend that you go through the foundations course in the Iterable Academy and get certified! You can find that course here.
I'm looking forward to hearing more advice from the community!
