The Olympic Games’ Opening Ceremony is a chance for the host country to show off its incredible culture, introduce themselves to competing countries and the world, and set the tone for the rest of the games. As marketers, we all know the value of a first impression. A welcome campaign is the first impression a company makes on a new customer, and makes or breaks the mood of the future brand-customer relationship. In the spirit of firsts (in marketing), share screenshots of your welcome or onboarding campaign. Don’t have one? Share one of your favorites from another brand, one that really stood out to you!

How to Participate:

In the spirit of first impressions and introductions, 👉 show-and-tell us about one of your favorite onboarding or welcome emails. 👈

I'll go first:
> I love online shopping. But what I love more is online sustainable shopping. Reformation’s welcome email is minimal, visual and quippy. They introduce their brand’s commitment to diversity, sustainability and style early on. Their initial CTA? To “Geek out” on their sustainable practices. Their final CTA? “TAKE ME SHOPPING” with a note that sustainable stuff (a.k.a. All of their products) ship free.

What’s trending in the world of welcome campaigns? We’ve highlighted three common trends currently being utilized by retail and ecommerce brands.

It's a bit long, but I'm always a huge fan of Huckberry content. They manage to make everything feel like a mini magazine and you don't feel like you're being sold to.
While this one has a bit too much white space for my taste, I always like a welcome email with a conversational tone. You have to scroll to get your reward, but the owner shared about themselves to help draw you in. Smaller companies are able to pull this off much better than the larger ones.

@Kara Sheil I love the "If you're here for the code, just scroll to the end." line -- you almost feel bad for scrolling to the end!
Not so long ago I subscribed to a newsletter that targets small biz owners. And I like how their welcome emails goes straight to business and adds value:

* They tell you what you'll learn from them & their newsletter
* They offer you a freebie
* They give you instructions to make sure you get their future emails
* And they show how they want to hear from you by asking you a question and encouraging you to hit reply and send it to them!

It's not a pretty email, but I like the thought process behind it.

Google One's welcome email really impressed me as a great combination of a few factors:

- Personalized with my data
- Key steps to get started/use the product
- Value of the product
- Clean layout with relevant gifs/images + super mobile friendly layout

I signed up to Calm, a meditation app, and love their welcome email sent after my first meditation!

It's personalized, informational and encouraging! I went a did another meditation right away :)

@Reina Toeda - I like the Calm emails as well. I should probably subscribe to their service. 🙂
@Reina Toeda @Kara Sheil when I started meditating I used Headspace! I LOVED it.

The founder used to be a monk, and then went back to regular life and decided he wanted to make meditation something anybody could do and he launched Headspace.

The free app is quite limited, but they have 2 shows in Netflix and both finish with meditations or wind down before sleep. I highly recommend them.

Plus their graphics are beautiful. They use animations and color everywhere.

This is a welcome email when you have a paid subscription.

AND, the one of the trailers for one of the Netflix shows:
